PRAYERS AT BODHGAYA January 2002: 150000 to 200000 pilgrims gathered in Bodh Gaya, a little town in the state of Bihar, which became a holy place ever since Buddha attained nirvana there under a Bodhi tree. Buddhists came from every part of the himalayan regions, braving all sorts of dangers, to receive Kalachakra, which is one of the most important initiations of Tibetan buddhism. 24 january 2002: before all the pilgrims gathered, His Holiness the Dalai Lama announced that due to his indisposition he will not be able to confer the initiation and that it is postponed till the next year.
